Meet the artist

From my earliest days, I’ve been fascinated by the quiet power of objects their ability to hold memory, emotion, and story in silence. I remember, even as a child, being drawn to the quiet corners of rooms, where dust motes caught the light and the edges of things seemed to hum with meaning.

I began as a muralist, working on a large scale with bold gestures and optical illusions that played with light and shadow. But over time, and especially after a Parkinson’s diagnosis in my early forties, my work changed. It became smaller, more focused, more reverent. I began to see each painting as a kind of shrine: a way to honour the still moments that often go unnoticed.

Now, I work almost exclusively in oils, creating small, intimate paintings and limited edition prints for people who crave beauty that whispers. I’m drawn to the kinds of objects that feel half-remembered or half-dreamed. These pieces are made to slow you down. They are for the quiet corners of your life the spaces that ask not for decoration, but for presence.

I live and paint in the northeast of Scotland with my partner and a neurotic border collie. When I’m not in the studio, I can usually be found dreaming of Italy, enjoying a glass of wine, or wild camping in the rugged hills of the Cairngorms.

My recent work centres on a series of miniature oil paintings that explore memory, domestic ritual, and the passage of time through sea-worn fragments of pottery. Each shard is painted with care, echoing the way we handle what’s fragile, what’s been lost and recovered. The pieces reference the language of still life but shift the focus toward absence and presence in everyday objects. This ongoing body of work has recently been exhibited in a solo show and two collaborative exhibitions, offering an intimate visual archive of the quiet, often overlooked poetry of the domestic.
