emma stubbs

I’m Emma Stubbs, an artist based in the North East of Scotland.Much of my artwork draws on the big skies, rugged landscape and coast of this area. I love to paint on a huge scale but as someone with Parkinson’s disease, I am unable to cope with the physicality of such projects. So now I focus on capturing wild nature on a smaller scale - which is probably much easier to hang in your average house!

I live with my two teenagers, partner and a rather neurotic border collie.

Thursday Around Dinner Time…Once a week, I ponder something to do with living with Parkinson’s and the impact of chronic illness. Be prepared for the frequent sweary bits.

In my artistic journey, landscapes and light are my endless inspirations. I convey their magic through oil paintings, bridging past and present. A reflection of our shared human experience, our bond with the land, and our ancestral memories. I aim to remind us of life's fleeting nature and the value of each moment. My paintings are invitations to time and memory, connecting us to hidden stories and the beauty of changing light. They celebrate the intricate tapestry of life, death, and memory in our world.
